Spa and Hot Tub Cover
Features & Benefits

Select Shape Measuring Tips 12 Colors Features/Benefits 3 Year Warranty Maintenance & Care

Foam Density

Specialty Spa Covers uses Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) which is rated by its weight per cubic foot. For example, 1 lb, 1.5 lb, 2 lb, etc. The higher the rating, the stronger the foam. Also, we only use VIRGIN FOAM, opposed to recycled foam, because it is much stronger even though both may carry the same rating.

Cover Taper

Specialty Spa Covers uses tapered covers from 3" to 2" and 4" to 2". Taper is important on spas that are outside. The more exaggerated the taper, the better the runoff for rain and snow. Therefore, we recommend 3" to 2" tapers for indoor use and 4" to 2" tapers for outdoor use. {More}

Vapor Seal

Specialty Spa Covers uses plastic tubing that is linear in design, to prevent easy puncture and to keep water saturation to a minimum. The tubing is hand heat sealed. Some other companies only use tape.

Thread

Specialty Spa Covers uses premium polyester thread, other threads such as nylon or cotton will not hold up to the outside elements for an extended period of time.

Vinyl

Specialty Spa Covers uses premium expandable marine vinyl designed for spa covers. The vinyl we use is abrasion, mildew, cracking, blocking and chlorine resistant. It has ultraviolet stabilized pigments. It weights 27 oz per linear yard. Specialty Spa Covers offers 12 Standard Colors. {More}

C-Channeling

Specialty Spa Covers uses 2 inch wide aluminum C-Channeling to prevent the foam cores from warping, and to add to the strength of the foam cores. We do not recommend T-Bars or any other lateral reinforcement which will score and weaken the foam. The aluminum is embedded into the foam cores to prevent rubbing through the vinyl. We use only aluminum channeling.

Bottom Material

Specialty Spa Covers uses a single laminate vinyl. The laminate is constructed of 9x9 Polyester Scrim. The Scrim is like the thread, in that, polyester scrim not nylon scrim is the way to go.

Zipper

Specialty Spa Covers uses a corrosion resistant zipper. If you don't use this type zipper, after a few years out in the elements you would be unable to unzip the cover.

Patterns

Specialty Spa Covers would like to make a custom/replacement spa cover for you. We have collected patterns over the years and are constantly updating them. Ask if we have a template on file for your spa cover.

Handles and Tie-down Straps

Specialty Spa Covers uses polypropylene webbing for all handles and tie-down straps. Specialty Spa Covers is one of the few in the country to use polypropylene webbing as standard for all handles and tie-down straps. The weak points of a spa cover are the handles and tie-down straps. We have reinforced these areas with webbing which will last longer than the vinyl and will be stronger. The covers come standard with 4 tie-downs and locking hardware. We include screws and keys with every spa cover.

Heat Seal Pouches

Specialty Spa Covers uses heat seal pouches at the hinge to keep the steam from escaping. We use a full 3" pouch.

Safety

Our spa covers meet or exceed ASTM standards for safety in spa covers.
